How Sasha organises your knowledge into projects and documents

Projects and documents

Sasha keeps your knowledge in projects. A project is a named collection of documents, for example one project for each client or one project for your policies. A document is a file in a project, such as a policy, a client file or the record of a meeting.

When you ask Sasha a question, Sasha searches only the projects that you can reach. So the projects you can reach decide what Sasha can find for you. Admin and staff accounts can reach every project, members' homes included. For an example, see Find what we already know about a topic, with sources.

Two kinds of project

  • Shared projects hold the knowledge of your organisation. Many people can reach the same shared project.
  • A member's home is a project for one member. Sasha makes the home when an admin adds a member to Sasha, or changes the role of an existing person to member. Admin and staff accounts can see and change each member's home. In the side menu of the Sasha web interface, each home is a project in the Member homes folder, and admin and staff accounts can chat in it. A document that such a chat writes goes into the home, so the member can read it from Claude. A home is private from other members, but not from your organisation's admin and staff accounts.

Who sees which projects

Each person in Sasha has a role: admin, staff or member. The role decides which projects the person sees.

  • Admin and staff see every project, members' homes included. Nobody has to give them access.
  • Members see their own home, and each shared project that an admin gave them access to. They do not see the other shared projects.

An admin gives a member one of two levels of access to each shared project:

  • Read. The member can find and read the documents in the project.
  • Read and write. The member can also add and change documents in the project from Claude, if your Sasha is set up to let members write. A member cannot delete documents in a shared project.

A member cannot get access to the home of another member.

For what each role can do in Sasha, see Who can do what in Sasha. For what Sasha holds, see What Sasha is and what Sasha holds.

What this means when you work with Sasha

  • Two people can ask the same question and get different answers, because they can reach different projects.
  • If Sasha does not find a document that you know about, check that the document is in a project that you can reach.
  • If you are a member and need a shared project, ask your Sasha administrator for access.

Questions

Can an admin see what a member keeps in their home?

Yes. Admin and staff accounts see every member's home. In the Sasha web interface they can open, add and change the documents in a home, and chat in it. From Claude they can read a home. A home is private from other members, but not from your organisation's admin and staff accounts. If you need a home that no admin can see, your organisation needs its own Sasha.

Why does a colleague get a different answer from Sasha?

From Claude, Sasha searches only the projects that you can reach. If your colleague can reach other projects, Sasha can find other documents for them.

How do I get access to another shared project?

If you are a member, ask your Sasha administrator. An admin gives each member access to each shared project. Admin and staff accounts already reach every shared project.

Can I rename a project?

Yes. In the Sasha web interface, an admin or staff account renames a project from the project's menu in the side menu. A rename changes only the name in the side menu. The project's folder keeps its first name, so the file list and Claude still show the first name.

What happens if I ask about a project that I cannot reach?

Sasha answers as if the project does not exist. Sasha does not tell you about projects that you cannot reach.
