getMeetingTranscript

Get a live meeting transcript

Fetch the transcript segments of a live or recent meeting by meetingId. For finished meetings, the saved document in the knowledge base (searchKnowledge/readDoc under the project's meetings folder) is the better source.

When to use

Use getMeetingTranscript to follow a meeting that is in progress, or one that ended a short time ago. It returns the segments that the instance holds for that meeting now.

Do not use it for a finished meeting. When the meeting saves one, a finished meeting is a document under the project's meetings/ folder. Find it with searchKnowledge or listDocs, and read it with readDoc.

The tool needs the meetings:read scope. Only admin and staff can hold meetings:read, so a member's connection never has this tool. It returns the transcript for the meeting id you give.

  • status is the meeting's state on the instance, for example starting, running, stopped, ended or error. It is unknown when the instance no longer tracks the meeting but still holds segments for it.
  • project is the project that the meeting saves to, or null.
  • documentPath is null when the meeting saves no document. Do not pass it to readDoc. To read the saved document, call searchKnowledge with the meeting's project and look for /meetings/ in the result paths, or call listDocs for that project. Then read the document with readDoc.
  • Each segment has speaker, text and timestamp.

Example

{ "meetingId": "meeting_1759395600000_k3x9q2m7a" }
{
  "meetingId": "meeting_1759395600000_k3x9q2m7a",
  "status": "running",
  "project": "northwind-advisory",
  "documentPath": null,
  "segments": [
    { "speaker": "Commercial lead", "text": "The diagnostic has sold twice since July, so I propose we keep the price at 4,900.", "timestamp": "2026-10-02T09:02:11.400Z" },
    { "speaker": "Partner", "text": "Agreed. Put it in the pricing policy when you update the discount rule.", "timestamp": "2026-10-02T09:02:24.950Z" }
  ]
}

When a meeting saves a document, find it with searchKnowledge on the meeting's project (look for /meetings/ in the result paths) or with listDocs, and read it with readDoc.

Refusals and what to do

  • Error in getMeetingTranscript: Meeting not found: <meetingId>: the instance has no status and no segments for that id. Check the id. If the meeting finished some time ago, find its document with searchKnowledge and read it with readDoc.
  • If the connection does not hold meetings:read, the tool is not in your tool list, and a call to it returns MCP error -32602: Tool getMeetingTranscript not found. Read the permissions section of getDocs. A scope is never added to an existing connection: the person must reconnect, or mint a new token, with meetings:read. Only admin and staff can hold it.
  • An empty segments list with a known status is not an error. The meeting has no finished segments yet.

Related

  • searchKnowledge finds a finished meeting's document.
  • readDoc reads it.
  • listDocs lists the documents in a project, including its meetings/ folder.
