London School of Architecture contract analysis
Summary
This project read the 92 pages of contract documents that a London School of Architecture student signs up to. It checked the contracts against 75 or more public sources and published the findings free at https://lsa-rho.vercel.app. The work took place while LSA was moving into the University of the Built Environment.
Scope
- Documents: 3 contract documents, 92 pages in total
- Sources: 75 or more sources across government, industry, and institutional records
- Output: 10 or more analysis documents, cross-referenced
- Access: findings published free of charge
- Method: each source graded by reliability tier before use
Main findings
- Fees: LSA can raise fees by up to 10% a year. A student on the two-year programme could pay up to £2,000 more than the year 1 fee implies.
- Refunds: 100% within 14 days, 80% from day 15 to day 28, nothing after day 28.
- Practice placements: the university disclaims liability for the placement. The student carries it.
- Structure: LSA is moving from a Charitable Incorporated Organisation to a university department, with a May 2025 target, under interim management.
